Overview

The Paralegal participates as a team member in our actively growing Affordable Housing and Real Estate practice group. This team is working on some of the most cutting edge and high-profile real estate and financing transactions. The position is responsible for providing support and assistance to attorneys in the management, coordination, and administration of all aspects of the practice area within established administrative procedures. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

Location: Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities

Review title commitments, surveys and related documents; respond to counterparties' comments

Coordinate due diligence and transaction implementation for commercial real estate development and finance / or affordable housing deals

Liaise with vendors to obtain certificates, searches, and other due diligence materials

Collaborate with the title companies to finalize title policies

Utilize project management tools to track tasks, timelines, and budgets

Track transaction tasks and phases and communicate progress to team as issues and/or items are resolved

Prepare signature page packets and coordinate execution across deal participants

Support attorneys in closing preparation and attend closings

Compile closing indices and binders; manage post-closing follow-up

Conduct legal and factual research using general and legal research tools

Adapt to evolving client needs with flexibility and initiative

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience as an affordable housing or commercial real estate paralegal with finance experience

Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate or appropriate job-related experience required

Deep knowledge of title and survey review

Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Strong drafting and proofreading abilities

A proactive, independent work style with excellent time management

A collaborative mindset and resourceful approach to team success

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:

Los Angeles, CA: $77,500 to $114,950

San Francisco, CA: $85,000 to $126,500

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
