The primary purpose of this role is to design, deliver, operate and own platform service capabilities within Iress, with a focus on supporting our data and AI strategy by designing, developing, and maintaining robust data infrastructure and architecture to support the ingestion and transformation of data from our core software products.

This role is essential for enabling the development and scaling of new data products, ensuring the availability, integrity, and efficiency of data for product development.

The role requires demonstrated excellence in software engineering, software architecture, cloud architectures, infrastructure architecture, teamwork and communication skills. It requires an ability to think across diverse business domains, be able to communicate ideas, inform others and have a client-focused mindset. Central to this role is the ability to work effectively with people and teams outside the Data Services group including technical and non-technical stakeholders on the shared global platform.

Drives the strategic vision for the data platform, enabling speed, scale, and quality for Iress engineering

Drives automation across all data platform activities, optimising efficiency and minimising manual intervention

Enforces "everything as code" principles across development and operations

Researches and implements cutting-edge cloud and data engineering trends, driving innovative, future-focused improvements

Recognises opportunities to promote existing product-centric capabilities into shared platform capabilities

Works as an effective team member in a cross-functional, cross-regional team

Owns and operates services and capabilities where relevant

Is able to provide technical advice, expertise and advocacy in the use of platform capabilities

Has a focus on value which is driven via data and metrics

Support teams who are designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes in a serverless data platform to ingest, transform, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data

Support the operational readiness of the data platform for future product scale-up

Contribute to patterns and processes for maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity across the platform

Enable the availability of data for high-value data products

What you will bring:

3+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer or in a similar role

Experience with cloud technologies (AWS (strongly preferred), Azure, GCP)

Proficient in CI/CD processes and leading tools (e.g. BuildKite, Azure DevOps)

Has expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns and tools (e.g. Terraform (preferred), CloudFormation)

Demonstrates strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python

Knowledgeable about various databases (e.g. Postgres, SQL Server, NoSQL DBs)

Experienced in application monitoring and relevant tools (e.g. Datadog, OpenTelemetry)

Demonstrated experience implementing security in automation pipelines, including static and dynamic application testing and component scanning

Desirable: Experience designing and building data lakes and lakehouses using platforms like Databricks (strongly preferred), Snowflake, or AWS services

Desirable: Experience using, deploying, scaling and monitoring streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka/MSK)

Desirable: Experience using API and other technologies to synchronise data across systems

Desirable: Understanding of CI/CD DevOps approach to implement data solutions

Desirable: Experience building/operating data extraction, ingestion, and processing systems

Desirable: Experience with data warehousing, and building data pipelines
