HCA Solutions is seeking a qualified Clinical Dietician for Torrance State Hospital in Torrance, PA
This is a full-time contracted position that offers long term placement and W-2 employment.
Shift available: 7:30am-4pm (1 hour lunch)
Roel Description:
Direct care interaction with patients. The employee is expected to interact with adult and geriatric populations, as appropriate
Writes modified diets and adjusts recipes; conducts class in preparation and service of modified diet products.
Organizes a complete program of patient nutritional care including nutritional assessments, diet counseling, chart entries, treatment team participation, discharge counseling and nutritional education programs.
Recommends ordering and prepares specifications for specialized food products for therapeutic use.
Assists in the preparation of the annual budget by submitting forecasts of program needs.
Coordinates with the Food Service Manager to fill client nutritional needs concerning flavor, texture, and general acceptability of therapeutic menus. Plans the diet requirements and is responsible for the accuracy of the diets.
Attends and participates in inter- and intra-departmental clinical care of patients and recommends appropriate dietary regime with other clinical modalities.
Collects data for the nutritional audit component of the facility’s quality improvement program including, but not limited to, patient acceptance of food, food conformance to quality standards, diet adherence, diet menu review and annual review and revision of the diet manual.
Plans, schedules, teaches, and evaluates nutritional care programs for patients. Provides educational material to staff, community and families. Maintains, records, compiles, develops and evaluates educational materials and uses them as aids in current nutrition education.
Provides guidance and direction to lower-level dietetic staff performing work in the nutritional care of patients.
Develops and documents all policies and procedures related to nutritional care and presents them to a higher-level supervisor.
Performs related work as required.
Maintains computerized Food Service System.
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
Follows food service safety and sanitation standards.
Travels to different/other buildings on the hospital grounds and off grounds for training as needed.
Ability to plan and modify standard and therapeutic diet menus in accordance with physicians' prescriptions and standards of nutrition, cost, variety and quality.
Provides guidance and direction to lower level dietetic staff performing work in the nutritional care for residents.
Ability to provide special instructions to cooks and food service workers in the preparation of special diet food items.
Knowledge of the modern methods, materials, practices and procedures used in a facility therapeutic diet program.
Knowledge of facility food service safety and sanitation standards.
Knowledge of the clinical and food service tasks performed by food service staff..
Knowledge of the procedures required in special diet tray assembling and distribution to insure the accuracy in quality of the menu items.
Ability to integrate the nutritional program into the overall dietetic program.
Resource will write nutritional care plans for implementation consistent with physician's orders and dietetic needs. Review care plans to ensure implementation. Resource will plan and modify standard and therapeutic menus for conformance to physician's orders/ diet manual, standards of nutrition, variety and quality. May be required to consult and work with a speech pathologist or other medical professionals. Resource may be required to attend and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings. Resource may provide in-service training to dietary and allied health care personnel as needed in applicable areas of nutrition. Resource will complete a nutritional discharge plan and resident instruction prior to discharge on all therapeutic diets. Resource will perform related duties as required by each facility.
Minimum Qualifications
Completed the minimum of a Bachelor's degree granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or foreign equivalent.
Met current minimum academic requirements accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Completed a supervised practice program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Successfully completed the Registration Examination for Dietitians; and complied with the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) recertification requirements.
Clinical nutrition experience recommended.
Must be currently licensed in the state of Pennsylvania.
