Specialist, Business Development - Group Benefits

Are you passionate about cultivating effective relationships to drive sales growth? If you love a highly visible position where you can influence results through relationship-building and activation expertise, we want to know more about you! As the Specialist, you'll be responsible for nurturing existing national distribution channels while promoting benefits solutions to new and existing association, affinity and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) business segments. You'll work closely with field distribution, home office, marketing, licensing, and product teams to drive multi-million-dollar revenue centers.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain relationships with key distribution partners, including brokers, consultants and general agencies.

Supports all national accounts, affinity/association and TPA agency licensing functions.

Leads prospecting of new affinity partnerships in conjunction with local field sales offices with the intention of growing the affinity/association segment to a robust distribution channel.

Analyzes, engages and executes on new relationships that provide national production potential.

Develop and execute a business development strategy to drive new growth across assigned territories or verticals.

Establishes self in market as product & positioning expert (level funded/competitor landscape) by identifying industry trends and changing market regulations to best understand client impacts.

Promote Nationwide's suite of insurance products through in-person meetings, virtual presentations and industry events. Conduct product trainings sessions for brokers and internal sales teams to increase product awareness and understanding.

Understands, analyzes and accurately interprets key financial performance indicators.

Integrates information from ongoing business analysis and assessment into business plan, and executes the business plan to achieve desired results.

Travel frequently to meet with clients and prospects, conduct in-person meetings, attend conferences, and support partner events.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Bachelors' degree preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Life and Health license or ability to acquire within 60 days of hire required.

Experience: Typically, 3 or more years of experience preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of level funding, self-funding, underwriting, and actuarial science. Negotiation, presentation and sales skills. Verbal and written communication skills to manage, negotiate and build relationships internally and externally with clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word). Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Work from home/office sales environment. Significant travel may be required depending on location and assigned accounts.
