Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

This position will assist in general maintenance and repairs on interior and exterior of swine facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair

• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs

• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (including feed systems, crates, gating, heating, ventilation)

• Performs routine maintenance on building systems

• Completes a daily record of tasks, miles driven, inventory used, and time spent on preparation for future work

• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers

• Knowledge of general construction and repair

• Ability to use hand tools and power tools

• Must have valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL

• Occasional travel required as needed

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Gas and Electrical Experience Preferred

• Related experience preferred

• On-the-job training offered

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking

• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
