Job Description
An NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) driver safely transports individuals who need assistance beyond that of a standard taxi to medical appointments and other healthcare facilities, providing door-to-door service and assistance with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including operating wheelchair lifts. Key duties include pre-trip vehicle inspections, maintaining logs and cleanliness, ensuring passenger safety, and offering compassionate, professional customer service while adhering to health privacy and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Passenger Transportation:
Safely transport clients to and from scheduled medical appointments, such as doctor's offices, dialysis centers, and rehabilitation facilities.
Passenger Assistance:
Provide physical assistance for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle, including operating specialized equipment like wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, ensuring fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights are in safe operating condition.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and state and federal laws to protect patient privacy and safety.
Documentation:
Accurately complete trip logs, mileage reports, and any incident or hazard reports.
Vehicle Upkeep:
Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle's interior and exterior to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for passengers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.
Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse clients, providing a compassionate and professional experience.
Empathy and Compassion: A demonstrated ability to be empathetic and understanding towards individuals with medical needs.
