Your Opportunity

Are you ready to make a real difference in your community? We’re looking for someone in Yarrabah to take on an inspiring full-time dual role as a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) and Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) until 30 June 2027.

As the Local Area Coordinator, you’ll support people with disability and their families by helping them set meaningful goals, navigate services like the NDIS, and connect with local supports. In the Early Childhood Coordinator role, you’ll work closely with families of children aged 0–9 years with developmental delay, conducting assessments and creating tailored plans that build on each child’s strengths and open up brighter futures. In this role, you’ll support families across all stages of life, ensuring the right help is available when it’s needed most. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to stand alongside your mob, celebrate their strengths, and create lasting positive change in Yarrabah.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Build trusting relationships with participants, families, carers, and community members to understand their needs and provide tailored support.

Assist participants and families to navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and connect them with the right services.

Support children aged 0–9 years with disability or developmental delay through assessments and early intervention planning.

Collaborate with families and service providers to develop, implement, review, and monitor NDIS plans effectively.

Refer participants to mainstream and community services to ensure comprehensive support.

Maintain accurate participant records and complete administrative tasks to support efficient service delivery.

Requirements for Success:

Reside locally within the Yarrabah community with a strong understanding of local culture and community connections.

Hold a degree or diploma in Human Services, Early Childhood, Disability, or possess equivalent relevant experience.

Experience supporting people with disabilities and their families using a strengths-based, person-centred approach.

Demonstrated cultural awareness and experience working respectfully with Indigenous communities.

Sound knowledge of the Disability, Child, Youth and Family Services sector, including the NDIS and relevant legislation.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with participants, families, and stakeholders.

Current Queensland driver’s license with no restrictions.

Currently hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening clearance, and meet NDIA On-Boarding requirements.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
