Position Summary
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor and vehicle intake team. This includes ensuring technicians have the tools, materials, and guidance needed to complete their work, monitoring performance against production plans, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes direct oversight of the vehicle intake and lot management functions, ensuring that vehicles are properly checked in and out, paperwork is accurately completed, and the lot remains organized and staged for efficient production and shipping.

Key Responsibilities
Production Oversight
· Supervise and coordinate daily shop activities to ensure production schedules are met.
· Monitor work in progress and compare actual performance to planned timelines and targets.
· Allocate labor and resources effectively to meet operational priorities.
Vehicle Intake & Lot Management
· Oversee the vehicle intake team, ensuring proper check-in and check-out procedures are followed for all vehicles arriving and leaving the facility.
· Ensure that all intake and shipping paperwork is completed accurately and updated in a timely manner.
· Manage staging of vehicles to support production flow, quality inspections, and on-time shipping.
· Maintain overall organization of the vehicle lot to ensure safety, efficiency, and accessibility.
· Coordinate with the Production Coordinator and Shipping team to align vehicle movement with production schedules and customer requirements.
Team Support & Leadership
· Ensure technicians and intake staff have necessary materials, tools, and equipment for assigned jobs.
· Provide direction, guidance, and technical support to resolve production and intake challenges.
· Foster a positive and safe work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and quality craftsmanship.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement
· Track daily production metrics and identify variances to plan.
· Conduct root cause analysis for delays, defects, or process inefficiencies.
· Develop and implement corrective action plans to address performance issues.
· Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing practices, 5S, and process optimization.
Quality & Compliance
· Ensure all work meets company quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements (DOT/FMCSA, OSHA, etc.).
· Enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain a hazard-free workplace.
Communication & Coordination
· Act as the primary liaison between shop floor personnel, intake staff, and management.
· Communicate production priorities, job expectations, and schedule updates to the team.
· Collaborate with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Materials, Sales) to resolve issues affecting production or vehicle movement.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, business, or related field preferred.
· 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or vehicle upfitting environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
· Knowledge of automotive or commercial vehicle assembly processes preferred.
Skills & Abilities
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
· Proficiency in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
· Strong organizational skills for managing vehicle flow and lot logistics.

· Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a shop environment.
· Lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
· Work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise) both inside the shop and outside on the lot.

· Shop floor and vehicle lot-based, with occasional office work for reporting and planning.
· Regular exposure to mechanical equipment, tools, and moving vehicles.
· Required use of PPE (personal protective equipment) as dictated by company safety policies.
