Job Details

Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour!

Shift Schedule: Full Time Schedule; 8 hours

Shift Times: AM shift; 5x/week

Duration: 13 weeks initially

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Medical Assistant Diploma/Certification from an accredited institution

BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)

1-2 years of experience in a medical assistant or patient care support role

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of and ability to use and apply medical terminology

Proficiency with computer systems, EPIC, and scheduling software

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong customer service focus

Experience in patient scheduling and care coordination (referrals, authorizations, follow-ups)

Strong front and back office experience Preferred

Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA)

Bilingual skills (Spanish)

Familiarity with population health concepts, or care coordination practices Skillset and Abilities

All levels require possession of knowledge, skills and abilities (job competencies) sufficient to function effectively at the level to which assigned.

Knowledge of and ability to use and apply medical terminology in performing duties

Knowledge of coding and billing regulations

Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job

Strong ability to multi-task and collaborate with others

Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.

Ability to work independently as well as an integral part of the patient care team.

Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities

Clinic Support

Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, weights, and medical history.

Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits and procedures.

Assist providers with procedures, specimen collection, and diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, POC testing, immunizations, injections)

Administer medications and vaccines under provider direction, follow safety protocols.

Process prescription refill requests and ensure accurate documentation in EPIC.

Collect and prepare lab specimens for testing and send to appropriate labs.

Patient Care Coordination

Serve as the main point of contact for patients regarding appointments, referrals, authorizations, and follow-ups.

Schedule and manage patient appointments using EPIC and scheduling systems.

Coordinate referrals to specialists, radiology, or other services; ensure authorizations are complete prior to appointments.

Act as a patient advocate and liaison, assisting patients in navigating healthcare services.

Clerical & Administrative Duties:

Handle patient check-in/check-out, including verifying insurance, collecting demographic data, and processing payments.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation.

Manage physician messages, patient calls, and CRM/in-basket communication in a timely manner.

Support completion of forms, disability paperwork, and other required documentation.

Maintain adequate supplies, stock exam rooms, and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education activities.
