Recreation Director (K-12 Education)
The Recreation Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing extracurricular, athletic, and recreational activities that support the physical, social, and emotional development of students in grades K-12. This position works closely with administrators, teachers, coaches, and community partners to provide safe, inclusive, and engaging programs that enhance the school experience beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage after-school, weekend, and summer recreational programs.
Coordinate school sports leagues, intramurals, and physical activity clubs.
Organize special events such as field days, school fairs, talent shows, and community service projects.
Supervise and train recreation staff, coaches, and volunteers.
Ensure all activities meet school safety guidelines and align with educational goals.
Maintain and schedule use of gyms, fields, and recreational spaces.
Manage budgets, supplies, and equipment for programs.
Promote activities to students, parents, and the community through newsletters, announcements, and school websites. Qualifications
Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or recreational setting.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to create programs that encourage participation from all grade levels and skill levels.
