Under the direction of the Delaware County Recorder, a Deputy Recorder I is responsible for reviewing and processing documents presented for recording and assisting the public with inquiries related to our recording requirements and access to our services.
Individual reports to the County Recorder, Office Administrator and Chief Deputy Recorder.Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with at least one year of experience in a related clerical or administrative position involving data entry, copying, filing and customer service, and a valid State of Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record.
* Maintains regular and predictable attendance * Greets and assists customer walk-ins with any needs including all aspects of recordation * Answers and assists customers over the phone and re-routes calls to other departments * Reviews documents submitted for recording to ensure compliance with all statutory and local requirements * Handles cash, prepares receipts and makes change for customers * Maintains search room for public use and aids members of the public in use of equipment, software, and other resources * Prepares correspondence in response to public inquiries using Microsoft Office products * Opens and distributes incoming mail * Assists veterans with obtaining a Veteran ID card * Manages local return boxes * Prepares and returns recorded documents back to submitter * Repairs old deed, mortgage, and other historical books * Participates in ongoing training for Recording and Indexing * Performs other administrative duties and special projects as assigned by the County Recorder, Office Administrator or Chief Deputy Recorder
