Allied Universal® is hiring a Weapons Compliance Manager. The Weapons Compliance Manager will work out of the Reston, VA area and oversees firearms compliance, operations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and state regulatory compliance standards for their specified region(s). This will include Allied Universal's procedures, all aspects of firearm acquisition and disposition, sale, transfer, distribution and purchase of regulated firearms, safe handling of firearms, licensing, and registration. The Weapons Compliance Manager is a certified armorer and serves as a Responsible Person under the company's Federal Firearms License (FFL). The Weapons Compliance Manager will drive excellence in firearms regulatory compliance by ensuring strict adherence to Federal, State, and Local laws. Lead inspections, analyze ATF and state documentation, and oversee electronic systems to maintain licensed facility integrity.
Salary Range: $50,000-$85,000 + Annual Bonus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Oversight: Manage ATF and state form reviews (4473, 3310 series), license renewals, and inspection responses to ensure operational alignment with legal standards.
Training and Communication: Develop and implement strategic training programs and communication plans to strengthen compliance culture across all licensed locations.
Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for ATF and law enforcement agencies, providing expert guidance on firearm acquisition, disposition, and transfer scenarios.
Risk Mitigation and Support: Partner with Legal and field teams to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct investigations, and provide proactive compliance support.
Technology and Systems Leadership: Administer electronic compliance platforms and ensure seamless integration of regulatory forms and processes.
Subject to travel out outside of Virgina 20%
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent or five (5) years of verifiable work history
Prior work or educational experience involving the care and maintenance of firearms
Minimum of five (5) years in security business operations and associated working knowledge
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
Current driver's license if driving a company vehicle, or personal vehicle in the course of conducting business (e.g., client visits, attending networking events)
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; clear, effective oral and written skills across all levels of leadership; strong networking skills and active listening to build trust and drive collaboration
Training and influence skills; proven ability to educate, guide, and influence teams on compliance standards
Analytical thinking skills; able to in identify critical issues, interpret data, and synthesize complex regulatory information
Technical proficiency comfortable with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace tools
Problem solving and investigative skills: adept at researching, compiling, and resolving compliance-related challenges
Attention to detail; high level of accuracy in documentation, inspections, and regulatory interpretation
Ethical leadership skills; demonstrated commitment to integrity and regulatory adherence
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
Prior military experience
Prior law enforcement experience
Inventory management experience
Certification in one or more of the following:
Armorer for major firearms manufacturer(s) (e.g. Glock, S&W, Sig Sauer, FN, Remington, Mossberg, etc.)
National Rifle Association Basic Pistol
National Rifle Association Personal Protection
National Rifle Association Range Safety Officer
