What you will do
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller/Coder to join in a Cardiology Medical Group in Oxnard. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding and processing medical claims related to cardiology services, ensuring compliance with current regulations and payer requirements. Key responsibilities include reviewing patient records, assigning appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, submitting claims, and following up on outstanding accounts. The Medical Biller/Coder will work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and the administrative team to ensure accurate documentation, timely billing, and maximum reimbursement. Strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Medical Biller/Coder Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Review medical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for cardiology procedures and diagnoses
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medi-Cal in a timely manner
Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services when necessary
Work with providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding and compliance
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Post payments, reconcile accounts, and generate billing reports as required
Stay up to date on payer guidelines, compliance standards, and coding updates related to cardiology
Collaborate with front office staff and management to resolve billing discrepancies
Maintain organized and accurate billing records within the electronic health record (EHR) and billing software
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in health administration or related field preferred
Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent (preferred)
Minimum of one year medical billing/coding experience in a healthcare setting; cardiology experience highly preferred
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
Familiarity with insurance claim processes, Medicare, and Medi-Cal regulations
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and staff
Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 months
Current Annual Health Clearance
