Salary: $16 to $18
OVERVIEW:Laborers range from semi-skilled to skilled workers whose duties include, but are not limited to, handling the materials for irrigation, planting, and construction. Laborers are generally needed on virtually all types of landscape projects. A laborer must know how to work efficiently with their hands and with tools such as shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows. Laborers may also work with irrigation materials and small engine machinery. Laborers assist in clearing and grubbing, hand grading, digging plant holes, trenching and cleaning trenches, gluing pipe, running wires, back-filling and covering pipe, spreading decomposed granite, keeping sites clear and clean and performing a variety of other functions when requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Ability to perform all primary competencies of the Landscaping Crew with experience driving a truck with a trailer.
Language skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Ability to read and write English.
Math skills: Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Certificates, licenses, etc.:Must have a valid Arizona drivers license, an acceptable DMV report, and pass the AAA Landscape driving test.
Physical requirements:Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50-80 lbs., carry materials, bend, twist, kneel, climb, and balance. Ability to walk at a brisk pace and work in a kneeling position for extended periods of time. Ability to work in the rain and in extreme temperatures. Ability to withstand dust, pollens, and gas fumes daily.
Other:Ability to understand and follow oral instructions. Ability to arrive on time to work and to work an 8-hour day. Ability to provide own transportation to and from the job site, or to and from the office, is assigned to drive a company van to the job siteability to respond appropriately to supervisors and co-workers. Although typical workdays are Mon-Fri, you must be able to work the occasional weekend.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Laborers work primarily outdoors but may occasionally work indoors. Laborers may work above ground, underground, or underwater. A certain amount of strength, dexterity, and alertness is necessary for every project.
