As a Senior Contracts and Procurement Specialist, you will be accountable for developing and implementing strategies and leading sourcing initiatives in support of Irving Oil’s Rail and Marine Procurement. Your goal will be to procure goods and services efficiently and effectively, and manage supplier contracts, relationships and performance across a variety of business units. Your success will be demonstrated in your ability to lead and manage multiple customers and stakeholders, understand and align to customer’s markets, strategies, priorities and plans, and collaborate to timely deliver on commitments.

Your Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing – Understand, develop and implement strategic sourcing strategy and processes that support collaboration and effectiveness

Draft contractual agreements and support negotiations of GSA’s, MSA’s, and other agreements

Manage contracts and supplier relationships as assigned

Understand and align to stakeholder’s markets, strategies, priorities and plans

Able to secure win-win agreements while successfully representing the company’s interests

Support Internal Total Cost of Ownership reduction initiatives

Engage with business stakeholders to monitor and resolve any issues with the Supplier delivering the defined scope of services or supply of goods

Analyze price behavior and forecast prices

Effectively manage procurement cycles to align with project schedules

Mentor other contract specialists

Your Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving and cost-modeling skills; with outside the box thinking

Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to navigate multiple priorities in a fast paced, changing environment

Ability to identify, evaluate and mitigate commercial risks

Ability to manage and adapt to sudden changes in workflow, priorities, and tasks

Effective communication skills (oral and written) for clearly conveying information to stakeholders across varying level of organization

Understanding of legal concepts related to contracts, including legal terminology and how to draft, review, and interpret contract terms and conditions would be an asset

Ability to work as part of a team and independently, network and build relationships.

Good knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams

Your Experience:

University Degree in Business or related field of study

Minimum 5-10 years in procurement and contracts within the energy or oil and gas sector in positions with increasing accountability and responsibility

Registered with SCMA (Supply Chain Canada Association) would be an asset
