QA Technician Afternoons
Monday - Friday 1:30pm – 10:00pm
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Come join our York, PA facility where we manufacture and distribute products such as Vitafusion Vitamins, A&H Cat Litter, and A&H Laundry Detergent!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This position supports product manufacturing to ensure plant quality requirements are met while maintaining all safety standards. This is achieved in part by conducting line audits and laboratory analysis of raw, in-process and finished goods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area of responsibility.
Support all plant safety policies and procedures at all times.
Responsible for having a clear understanding of, and adhering to, all Corporate and plant quality processes, procedures and methodology.
Conduct daily batch and physical testing for manufacturing operations, using standard chemical analysis according to established test procedures
Performs raw material, in-process and finished product QC analytical testing which includes viscosity, specific gravity, pH, solids, color/odor, titration, GC and HPLC analysis, etc.
Operate laboratory computer, analytical test instruments and systems, including troubleshooting and calibrations as needed
Communicate appropriate batch adjustments to Operations staff to ensure product integrity according to specifications.
Troubleshoot analytical problems with Operations staff as needed
Conduct production line audits on high-speed production lines, and interpret results, and recommend changes or corrections in order to maintain finished product integrity.
Perform incoming raw ingredient comparisons to standard and verify quality of received components
Document and maintain test results, audit information, procedures, logs and specifications using appropriate data or file maintenance system
Communicate effectively with internal customers and vendors as needed
Sustain good laboratory practices for the safe and proper handling of chemicals
Responsible for notifying all appropriate parties of non-conforming product (out of specification material and/or product) and take appropriate action to contain material/product.
Actively participates in root cause analysis and supports nonconformance investigations.
Responsible for the calibration, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of all critical laboratory equipment such as HPLCs, GC, balances, and autotitrator.
Understands and incorporates good documentation practices and good laboratory practices in daily operations.
Utilizes various computer programs to record, retrieve and analyze information.
Assists in the creation of SOPs, work instructions and forms.
Suggests opportunities for continuous improvement and areas for change where applicable.
Participates in Lean and Kaizen events as assigned.
Keep work area clean and neat
Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule flexibility, ability to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Highschool Diploma or GED required.
5 years of related experience
PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s Degree or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred.
1-3 years’ experience in a quality laboratory and/or experience as a manufacturing quality inspector or floor technician in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
Strong computer skills and experience with MS office suite required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good organizational/time management skills required
Ability to work for long periods of time, under pressure, to produce results
Basic chemical and mechanical aptitude
SPC and Six Sigma background desired
Work flexible schedule as needed
Demonstrate ambiguity to change
REQUIRED TRAINING:
Candidates are required to complete all necessary trainings within the defined introductory period.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The operations facility is not in a climate-controlled environment. Candidates will be exposed to the seasonal temperature variations. All candidates will be required to abide to all PPE standards and department dress code.
