Associate Field Engineer

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities: Full Time position supporting the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) filling an Associate Field Engineer position providing mechanical assistance. The SDTS is located at NSWC Port Hueneme, California.

Position Qualifications:

•Must have a 1- 3 years’ experience in a mechanical field.

•Must be able to work with limited supervision, completing onboard maintenance requirements.

•Must be able to read and understand EOSS procedures

•Must be able to learn how to troubleshoot electrical equipment and determine root cause failure modes.

•Must be able to support the AGANG Planned Maintenance System (PMS).

•Must be able to support overnight underway evolutions (includes regular housekeeping/cleaning).

•Must be able to take log readings and stand underway watches.

•Must have basic computer Microsoft Office skills (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, data entry)

•Must be able to pass shipboard firefighting certification and serve on ship’s Damage Control Fire Party.

•Have a valid driver’s license with own transportation.

•Must have no criminal record and able to satisfactorily complete background check.

•Must be able to work under minimal supervision, perform and complete tasks with limited guidance.

•Able to follow company policies and procedures.

•Able to write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed reports.

Preferred Skills:

•Shipboard Fire Fighting Training

•Any Auxiliaries type “C” School

Physical Requirements:

•Must be able to climb up and down the shipboard vertical ladders.

•Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

•Must be able to pass Shipboard Fire Party School.

•Must be able to get underway to support mission operations.
