Mechanical Design Engineer (Junior)

We are looking for Junior Design Engineers with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication to join our Design & Development team at MGPRO’s Silvassa factory. The ideal candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (3D modeling), with the ability to translate concepts into accurate development and assembly drawings for stainless steel kitchen and refrigeration equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in SolidWorks for sheet metal components and assemblies.

Develop fabrication drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and technical documentation for production.

Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

Assist in the development of new products and customization of existing designs as per client requirements.

Perform sheet metal development including flat patterns, bending allowances, tolerances, and welding considerations.

Ensure all drawings and designs adhere to quality standards, safety norms, and international specifications.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (production, purchase, service) for design feasibility and project execution.

Support in design modifications, revisions, and documentation control.

Conduct basic design validations through prototyping, fitment trials, and feedback from the shop floor.

Maintain proper documentation of design files, revisions, and records for future reference.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, finishing).

Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, rendering).

Ability to prepare development drawings, exploded views, and assembly drawings.

Understanding of tolerances, GD&T, welding symbols, and material specifications (SS 304/316 etc.).

Good visualization and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and technical documentation.

Team player with effective communication skills.

Educational Qualifications

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred specialization: Sheet Metal / Design).

Experience

2–3 years of relevant experience in sheet metal design and fabrication industry.

Experience in commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, or similar stainless steel fabrication industries will be an added advantage.
