Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant at River Valley Counseling Center (RVCC) plays a key role in supporting provider visits by preparing clients, obtaining vital signs and medical history, and accurately documenting in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This position assists with prescriptions, coordinates follow-up care and appointments, and ensures up-to-date client information, all while maintaining a professional, respectful, and confidential environment. The Medical Assistant collaborates with providers and staff to ensure efficient, client-centered care, and adapts to evolving clinical needs and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Escort clients into clinical area and assist them physically, when required
Document start time in EHR when client is roomed
Take vital signs and document them in clients electronic health record
Prepare client for Provider's visit, as required
Obtain history of the current visit and document information in the client’s chart.
Maintain, in conjunction with the Provider, current information regarding allergies, medications, and pertinent family history in the client’s problem and medication sections
Ensure all prescriptions sent by fax from the pharmacies are forwarded to the provider and addressed in a timely manner.
Determine, arrange and submit for appropriate follow-up care, including follow-up appointments, educational materials, diagnostic testing and third-party referrals; this process may occur in collaboration with the Provider and/or office assistant.
Ensure the completeness and accuracy of non-Provider entries into the client’s electronic medical record (e.g. immunizations, medical supplies)
Qualifications:
Required:
Education Level - High school graduate or GED; successful completion of a medical assistant training program
Years of Experience - 1–2 years as a medical assistant
Skills/Abilities - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; crisis intervention skills; organizational skills; attention to detail; computer skills; good customer relations skills; knowledge of legal and ethical issues pertaining to the profession.
Licensing/Certification - Current CPR certification and Medical Assistant Certificate.
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Summary of Benefits:
Salary Range: $22 - $22.50
Based on years of experience, level of education, specialty and licensure/certifications. Additional compensation for advanced education for qualifying positions.
