As one of the largest packaging companies in Australia and New Zealand, Opal Specialty Packaging provides tailored cardboard-based packaging solutions for small, medium and large businesses. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Opal team as our site in Orchard Hills is currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to come onboard!
The key focus of this role will be to:
Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering projects (particularly projects involving machinery decommissioning and installation)
Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and cross-functional teams for smooth integration
Complete the submissions for capital projects complete with business case including financial analysis
Manage the R&M and CAPEX budgets for the site
Implement best practices in preventive/predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and root cause analysis
Become part of the site leadership team at Orchard Hills and provide guidance, coaching and technical support to the site
Play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, and develop a full-site maintenance team

For this role we would ideally like you to have:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, with a specialization in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering
Proven background in engineering and maintenance management within manufacturing settings
Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering projects
Experience in overseeing relevant budgets (CAPEX and R&M)
Prior experience working within a corrugated or fibre-based industry would be highly regarded (but is not a requirement)
Experience using ERP or Engineering systems such as Kiwi-Plan, SAP or Prism would be ideal (but is not a requirement)
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders internally and externally
The ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
