This position is preferred to be based out of one of our Leidos locations: Reston, VA, Arlington, VA, or San Diego, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Advanced Maritime Systems Architect will spearhead the development and application of innovative solutions for our maritime business area, tapping into customer-funded R&D from organizations like ONR, NAVSEA, NRL, and DARPA.
You will establish and nurture relationships with key customers, including NAVSEA, ONR, NRL, USSOCOM, and OSD, demonstrating how Leidos' emerging technologies can significantly empower next-generation warfighting capabilities. Additionally, you will support the development and refinement of Leidos' business strategy to align with customer priorities.
You will oversee the capture and shaping strategy for vital maritime programs and lead collaborative efforts in creating new initiatives with organizations such as ONR, NRL, and DARPA.
Grow and maintain connections with strategic partners, prestigious universities, and research institutions to enhance learning and team opportunities. You will sponsor research projects that elevate Leidos' solutions and showcase innovative technologies both internally and externally.
Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree with 15+ years of experience or PhD with 13+ years of experience in engineering or a scientific discipline, with a focus on signal processing, simulation, platforms, phenomenology, and sensors.
Experience in science, technology, research, and capability development with military or intelligence applications.
Current Secret security clearance and the capability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Experience in technical roles within contractor or government R&D organizations, with a progressive increase in responsibilities, and familiarity with S&T/R&D customers like ONR, AFRL, DARPA, and IARPA.
Proven experience capturing or directing R&D programs as a principal investigator or program manager for government S&T/R&D customers.
Expertise in one or more technology domains, such as satellite systems, electronic warfare, ELINT/SIGINT, advanced radar systems, AI/ML, autonomous systems, and maritime systems.
Ability to assess, quantify, and mitigate risks in project development and execution.
Experience in technology and business strategy formation, performance management, and Defense industry best practices.
Proficient in developing technology/strategy/investment roadmaps.
Experience in overseeing IRaD programs and portfolios.
Strong program management experience with large-scale projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
Proven ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate effectively.
A track record of mentoring and promoting technical talent.
Significant experience supporting capture activities, including Gate Reviews, proposal writing, and providing technical guidance.
Willingness to travel approximately 25% and accommodate 25% remote telework.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in evaluating technical proposals.
Top Secret security clearance or higher.
PMP certification.

Pay Range: $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
