Role Overview
The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services to ActionAid Zimbabwe staff, partners, and visitors. The role includes ensuring the proper maintenance of project vehicles, adherence to organizational policies and road safety regulations, and providing logistical support for program activities.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Transportation
Safely drive AAZ vehicles for staff, partners, and visitors to project sites, meetings, workshops, and other official duties.
Ensure punctuality and adherence to scheduled assignments.
Assist with loading and offloading project materials and supplies.
Vehicle Maintenance and Care
Conduct daily checks on vehicles (fuel, oil, water, brakes, tires, etc.) and report any mechanical issues promptly.
Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy, and properly serviced as per manufacturer and AAZ guidelines.
Ensure all vehicle documents (registration, insurance, fitness, etc.) are valid and up to date.
Compliance and Safety
Strictly observe all Zimbabwe traffic laws and AAZ safety policies.
Maintain a valid and clean driver’s license at all times.
Keep accurate and up-to-date logbooks, mileage records, and fuel consumption reports.
Administrative and Logistical Support
Provide logistical support during workshops, training sessions, and field activities.
Assist in delivering official documents, parcels, and supplies when required.
Support administrative staff in basic office tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
Minimum of O-Level education.
Valid and clean Class 2/4 (or equivalent) driver’s license with defensive driving certification.
At least 5 years of driving experience, preferably with NGOs, development agencies, or reputable institutions.
Excellent knowledge of Zimbabwe road networks, traffic regulations, and defensive driving practices.
Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to diagnose and report faults.
Good communication skills in English and local languages.
High sense of responsibility, integrity, and professionalism.
Desirable:
Experience working with an NGO or humanitarian/development organization.
First Aid training certification.
