Electra.aero Internship Program - Summer 2026

Electra.aero is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated high school students, college students, and recent graduates in a variety of engineering disciplines (aerospace, mechanical, structural, manufacturing, electrical, software, and more) to support the development of next-generation electric aircraft.

Our internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on, real-world experience by contributing to meaningful projects. Interns apply classroom knowledge to help solve complex technical challenges in areas such as:

Vehicle Systems and Mechanical

Propulsion Engineering

Flight Physics and Flight Test

Structures and Manufacturing

Electrical systems and Avionics

Systems Engineering and Systems Safety

Flight Controls

To maximize the experience, these internships are onsite in Northern Virginia (Manassas HQ). Relocation to the area is required for the duration of the program.

Required Education & Experience

Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program in an applicable engineering or STEM discipline.

0+ years of relevant experience (academic, project-based, or professional).

Required Skills

Strong work ethic with the ability to proactively contribute in a fast-paced, fixed-wing prototyping environment.

Developing organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Progress toward an advanced degree.

Experience in prototype development programs.

Exposure to electric aircraft flight operations.

Familiarity with flight test data analysis, aerodynamic/propulsion system evaluation.

Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.

U.S. Person status (citizen or permanent resident) preferred.

Location

Electra.aero Headquarters - Manassas, VA This is an onsite internship to encourage close collaboration on complex projects.

Compensation

Electra's salary range for this position is $39,000 - $87,000 annually. Please note: Actual compensation for internships depends on multiple factors, including project budgets, education level, skills, experience, and year in school.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.

Background & Drug Screening

Successful completion of a background check and/or drug screening prior to starting work may be required for this position.
