Position Summary:
Senior Manager of External Reporting and Controls is responsible for all aspects of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP compliance, and internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404). The ideal candidate combines public company reporting experience with strong technical knowledge and a practical understanding of the manufacturing industry.
This highly visible position reports to the VP, Corporate Controller and CAO and will interact with other senior leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional partners across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Tax, Legal, and IT.
Key Responsibilities:
External Financial Reporting (SEC):
Own and manage the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual SEC reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, earnings releases).
Coordinate the disclosure process across departments including Operations, Legal, Investor Relations, and HR.
Maintain compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP disclosure requirements and ensure consistency across all filings and communications.
Drive continuous improvements in the financial reporting process through automation, system enhancements, and process streamlining. Technical Accounting:
Lead research and documentation of complex accounting issues including revenue recognition, inventory costing, long-lived asset impairment, leases, derivatives and stock-based compensation.
Analyze and advise on technical implications of special projects, operational changes, capital projects, product launches, and M&A activity.
Develop and maintain corporate accounting policies and ensure consistent application across manufacturing locations.
Monitor developments from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies; evaluate and implement new standards. Internal Controls & SOX 404 Compliance:
Oversee the company's internal control framework related to financial reporting, including monitoring through use of AuditBoard.
Coordinate with internal and external audit and process owners to assess design and effectiveness of controls and evaluate severity of deficiencies as necessary.
Drive remediation of control deficiencies and proactively address control gaps in operational processes.
Support process improvements and standardization efforts across plant and corporate finance teams. Audit and Compliance:
Lead external audit process including coordination of PBC requests and auditor communications.
Provide audit support for technical accounting matters and disclosure decisions.
Prepare and review quarterly audit committee materials. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required.
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) and public company industry experience, ideally in the manufacturing sector.
