Job Description

The Data Architect is responsible for the design, strategy, and governance of the organization’s data warehouse architecture in support of clinical, financial, and operational analytics. This role ensures that Company data is integrated, secure, scalable, and compliant with regulations, while enabling efficient analytics and reporting across the enterprise. The Data Architect collaborates with engineers, analysts, and business leaders to define data models, integration standards, and architectural best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and maintain the data warehouse architecture, including data lakes, marts, and enterprise data warehouse (EDW) environments.

Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for healthcare datasets (EHR, claims, pharmacy, provider, patient, financial).

Oversee the design of ETL/ELT frameworks and pipelines to integrate data from diverse healthcare systems.

Define standards for dimensional modeling (star, snowflake schemas) to support BI and analytics.

Partner with data governance teams to ensure metadata management, lineage, and stewardship are embedded into warehouse design.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, FDA, and other regulatory frameworks for PHI/PII handling.

Partner with business stakeholders to translate analytics needs into scalable architectural solutions.

Provide technical leadership on cloud migration strategies (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery).

Mentor data engineers and analysts on architectural best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.

3–5+ years of experience in data warehousing, data architecture, or enterprise data management (healthcare experience strongly preferred).

Expertise in data modeling (ER, dimensional, normalized/denormalized models).

Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational, MPP, and distributed database systems.

Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery).

Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, DBT, ADF).

Knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD, CPT, SNOMED).

Strong understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and PHI/PII compliance requirements.
