Job Description

The Quality & Food Safety Coordinator (QFS) will oversee the quality assurance, quality control, and food safety functions for the Barbados Mills Limited. The QFS will be responsible for implementing and improving the quality management programs and procedures for the facility to ensure adherence to all quality and regulatory standards. This role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory, corporate, customers and 3rd party audit requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, customer, and third-party audit requirements.

• Manage the HACCP food safety program and related prerequisite programs.

• Ensures that products meet all specifications and requirements.

• Provide training and guidance to employees on food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and quality assurance procedures.

• Collaborate with sales, commercial, and technical teams to address customer inquiries and complaints proactively.

• Assist in resolving quality issues through inspections, CAPA investigations, and audits.

• Lead investigations into quality deviations and other concerns.

• Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Quality Management System.

• Implement quality policies, procedures, and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

• Recommend project and process designs that simplify compliance with quality standards.

• Serves as primary point of contact Conduct supplier audits and internal food safety/GMP audits, and manage third-party customer and regulatory audits.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in food safety practices and quality standards.

• Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, and quality issues, implementing preventive measures to mitigate risks.

• Maintain documentation to meet record-keeping requirements.

• Assess product quality risks as necessary to determine final product disposition.

Job Requirements:

• BSc degree in Food Science or related field preferred.

• At least 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing or food processing entity.

• Solid understanding of QA methodology

• and processes.

• Technical competence in analytical chemistry or microbiology.

• Well-developed understanding of HACCP, BRC Food Safety Standards and Quality Management Systems.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to reporting accuracy

• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) to all levels and functions of employees and customers.

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

• Experience in conducting quality/food safety training and managing HACCP programs.

This position will require working in a hot and dusty environment which includes working at heights, walking, bending, climbing and standing for prolonged periods and constant exposure to manufacturing areas
