Description:

Since 1965, Stoneridge has designed and manufactured advanced, award-winning technologies including driveline and transmission actuation systems, vision systems, emissions control systems, safety systems, and security and monitoring systems for vehicle OEMs in the commercial vehicle, automotive, off-highway and agricultural vehicle markets. We’re focused on the areas of greatest market need – both today and tomorrow. Our core products and technologies are aligned with industry megatrends including safety and security, vehicle intelligence, fuel efficiency and emissions. Join the Stoneridge Team as we continue to build upon our strong history and reputation for quality products to deliver innovative products and systems that address a need, exceed our customers’ expectations, and motivate our team.

Translates the company goals and programmed/product customer requirements into system requirements and a system design definition. Such definitions include: a breakdown of the system into components, the component interactions and interfaces (including with the environment and the user), and the technologies and resources to be used in the design.

Focus on Monitor and ECU components in all development scopes, from Electronics to Mechanical design. They are expected to be knowledgeable of many technologies and able to judge their applicability to specific situations. They also apply their knowledge to practical situations but evaluate the cost/benefits of various solutions using different technologies to assure that the system performs according to the stakeholder's expectations.

Responsibilities:

Owns functional trade-offs – has decision authority to balance functional performance to reconcile to a given target specification, including cost and industrialization targets.

Understands and visualizes trade-offs to facilitate trade-offs decisions with key stakeholders (e.g., using a ‘spider chart’ highlighting trade-off curves along several system functions.)

Supports the quote team during the business acquisition phase by ensuring feasibility of requirements or clear risk identification and quantification in case a requirement is outside the known product capabilities.

Has an overall view of the system – both functions and form – and controls the structure and its variants to prevent excessive industrial proliferation through the execution of the Product Structure Design (PSD) process.

Responsible for the full decomposition of the system into sub-systems eventually allocated to components and modules. Supports the system integrators during the functional decomposition phase of a customer program.

Ensures interfaces are well defined and controlled between sub-systems and between functions. This includes the Hardware-Software Interface (HSI).

Responsible for completing the Systems Requirements Specification (SYRS) and System Architectural Design (SYAD), including Functional Safety and Cybersecurity. Consults specialists on these subjects when required.

Support the development team in the technical aspects.

Provides management with a clear understanding of the project scope and status.

Interact with Customer to improve project communication.

Ensures V&V methods and tests are known and documented to facilitate the requirements tracking.

Approves the V&V plans. Focus on platform and overviews all customers.

Owns the system FMEA. Ensures its creation and maintenance with all the required stakeholders.

Education and experience

MSc in a technical discipline. Preferably Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Knowledge of agile development methods.

Analytical mindset.

Able to think conceptually and deal with ambiguity.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience with safety critical designs and cybersecurity.

Knowledge of regulations on product safety, ISO26262, Automotive SPICE, IATF 16949.

Skilled in embedded software implementation, mainly in C and C++, is a plus.

Knowledge of structured design embedded real-time systems, and hardware/software interfacing is a plus

Good understanding of embedded electronics design is a plus.

Experience with system modeling and model based systems engineering (MBSE) is a plus.

Having contributed with your expertise in architecting, dimensioning and selecting the appropriate (RT)OSes/Hypervisors for each processor in order to safely support the intended functions is a plus. This work preferably also involves experience from hands-on SW development skills to bring-up these systems.

You need to have a valid work visa for The Netherlands.

The system architect function is aimed at developing the right system setup so that it can be efficiently developed for series production products. Fulfills a pivotal role within the organization, must take into account many (international) stakeholders in many layers of the organization. Hereby must take into account regularly changing (internal) customer wishes and applicable laws and regulations. The function has analytical, directional and administrative activities. Switches fairly regularly between all aspects and different projects. Looking ahead and looking broadly are required when setting up architectures. Time constraints can occur around the dead-lines of the various projects. Has a HBO working and thinking level, supplemented with broad current knowledge of technology. Knowledge of automotive core tools, relevant laws and regulations and network techniques. Needs to stay current in the field and have knowledge of the English language in speech and writing
