Job Description Scope of Position: The Central Sterile Supply (CSS) department is responsible for instrument processing and OR case carts, central sterile processing, decontamination, sterilization, case cart processing, physician preference cards management, commodities management, instrument tracking management, off-site instrument processing management, the sterile disposable supply inventory for case carts and selected reusable equipment. Equipment processed includes surgical instruments and utensils. Case cart production, instrumentation preparation, sterilization, and maintenance is coordinated with the Operating Room and obstetrical personnel. The CSS department maintains a 24-hour a day, seven days a week operation. Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Perioperative Support Services & Procedural Services, the Manager of Sterile Processing and Case Management will be responsible for all activities related to instrument decontamination, assembly and sterilization for the operative theaters, procedural areas, emergency department, critical care and other nursing units for University Hospital East. The Manager acts as the primary contact for Sterile Processing contact for Compliance & Accreditation and external regulatory departments, i.e., The Joint Commission and Ohio Department of Health. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree Required Qualifications For Hire: Required BS in health related specialty, Masters preferred or equivalent combination. Certification in instrument processing required (or to be obtained within 6 months of employment), and must have a minimum of 4 yearsa? experience with hospital central processing required. Knowledge of computer applications and experience with analytical tools needed. Proven teaching, communication, managerial, organizational and leadership skills required.
