The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager in our small engineering you will be required to maintain and repair all equipment in the relevant department. Ensuring maximum utilisation of production time. Each department has strict standards in relation to hygiene, health & safety, environment, quality and ethics.

Must be multi skilled - electrically biased an advantage.

Monday - Friday 0900 - 1800, with Potential overtime.

Salary Range: £45,000 - £50,000 per year

Summary

A hands on/dynamic role in our small Engineering Team.

Your Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and reactive maintenance on food processing and packaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and PLC faults quickly and efficiently to reduce production impact.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules and safety regulations.

Ensure all machinery complies with food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC).

Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment logs using CMMS software.

Liaise with production, quality, and engineering teams to coordinate maintenance works with minimal disruption.

Participate in root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes to recurring equipment issues.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

Assist in installation, commissioning, and upgrades of machinery or infrastructure within the facility.

The Ideal Candidate

Multi skilled engineering background

Experience of working in the food industry - FMCG desirable but not essential

Relevant engineering qualifications – minimum Engineering NVQ or equivalent

Ability to work unsupervised (although advice and guidance will be available where required)

Ability to work on your own initiative

Ability to think on your feet

Self Motivated

Happy to get dirty

Ability to work accurately & under time pressure due to production needs
