Position Summary
A CNC Programmer/Operator programs, operates, and maintains CNC machinery to produce precision parts that meet rigorous quality, efficiency, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and a proactive approach to optimizing production processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
Programming and Operation – Develop, edit and implement CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam); operate CNC machines to produce parts per detailed specifications.
Setup and Maintenance – Configure machines with appropriate fixtures and tools; perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
Quality Assurance – Inspect finished components using precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to ensure compliance with specifications; maintain detailed quality control records.
Process Optimization – Monitor and refine machine settings to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve part quality.
Safety and Compliance - Adhere to all safety regulations and train team members on safe machine operation and protocols.
Documentation – Record machine settings, production metrics, and operational adjustments accurately.
Team Leadership – Mentor junior staff, oversee workflow, and provide training as needed to support team success.
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficient with CNC software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens, Fanuc) and G-code programming.
Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical schematics.
AutoCAD/Mastercam – Advanced design and CAM programming skills.
Machine Familiarity – Hands-on experience with Tornos, Tsugami, Mazak, or Doosan CNC machines.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 10 years in CNC machining, with extensive expertise in programming, setup, and operation across materials like metals, plastics, or composites.
Preferred Technical Skills
Preferred expertise:
Automation/Robotics – Experience with automated systems or robotics in manufacturing.
PLC – Skilled in programming and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers.
Laser Drilling – Knowledge of operating and maintaining laser drilling equipment.
CFD/FEA – Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics or Finite Element Analysis for process optimization.
Swiss style machine familiarity
Certifications: CNC operation or related certification is a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in extremely oily and noisy environments.
Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and move around for up to 10 hours at a time.
Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds at a time.
Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine for up to 10 hours.
May be exposed to chemicals, mist, dust and heat exposure.
