Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory testing in an accurate and timely fashion by utilizing technical and problem-solving skills in conjunction with a thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory principles. Maintains effective communications and transfers testing and pending follow-ups between employees and shifts following all CHAMP and HRO standards. Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times. Maintains operational effectiveness and assumes full responsibility for continuing education requirements, licensure, and expertise to adapt as needed to an expanding department with increased testing complexity.
Responsibilities
Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
Perform a variety of laboratory techniques, including moderate to highly complex tests.
Operate instrumentation independently and maintain equipment safety.
Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot instrument failures.
Assist with specimen processing, inventory management, and training new employees as needed.
Meet continuing education requirements and participate in professional activities.
Perform routine tests, quality control procedures, and other duties to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
Qualifications
Education: BS Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or equivalent; ASCP eligible.
Experience: 0-2 years.
Licensure: ASCP eligible.
Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, basic computer skills, teamwork orientation, procedure knowledge, and adherence to Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards.
Physical Demands
Regular sitting, hand use, reaching, talking, occasional standing, walking, stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and visual acuity requirements. Exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Must be able to perform testing with or without reasonable accommodations.
