Job Description
Salary:
The role of a substitute teacher is to supplement or implement the quality of care provided to the children in the class by the employed staff. The substitute teacher shall be under direct supervision of the assigned teacher, or if assigned as lead teacher be incharge of and responsible for the children. The substitute is under general supervision of the director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be least18 yrs. of age,
Some experience working with children 6 weeks- 5 years
Minimum of some college credit hours in Early Childhood Education or any other area of Early Childhood Education (i.e. CDA)
EMOTIONAL & REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
Demonstrates emotional and intellectual competence necessary for self-control and good judgment when taking care of individual children and groups of children
Demonstrates emotional and intellectual competence necessary for self-control and good judgment when working with other adults, such as co-workers or the childrens parents
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, and kneel in order to speak with children at childs eye level, to play with children, and to pick up toys and equipment on the floor;
Lift, carry, and hold children to assist with other daily routine activities such as diaper changing, potty training, and napping. Able to lift up to 45 pounds;

TASKS:
1. Provide positive and effective guidance to children
Comfort and nurture children
Stop unsafe activities and redirect children toward safe activities using positive redirection and guidance
Interact with children in a positive manner
Help the teacher supervise children and/or supervise children during indoor and outdoor play.
Help the children during routines, such as childrens clean up, toileting, and eating.
Follow and implement activities developed from the lesson plan
Follow center policies and standards: Church/staff handbook; Minimum Standards; NAEYC Standards.
Respect for all cultural and economic backgrounds.
Willingness to participate in training & volunteer with community events
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with information between families, children and staff
Hours:Flexible arranged by substitute and director approval (availability 7am - 6pm)
