Summary of Substitutes
San Juan Island School District is looking for energetic and motivated substitute staff to support all Classified positions; Para Educators, Bus Drivers, Custodial, Kitchen and Clerical staff. The best candidates for substitute positions are flexible and have experience within the given area.
What Does a Substitute Do?
Classified Substitutes provide critical backup to school district services when regular staff are unable to work due to illness or other personal situations.
Essential Responsibilities
Be punctual.
Follow supervisor's instructions accurately and efficiently.
Interact with all students and staff with professionalism, kindness and respect.
Adhere to all District Policies and the Washington State Code of Professional Conduct. Essential Skills and Qualfications
Strong command of English language.
Flexible, friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students, while maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
Ability to set the proper tone from the beginning for effective classroom management.
Substitute Bus Drivers must possess CDL with school bus endorsement. Other Requirements
Criminal background check clearance, mandatory. Must pay non-refundable fingerprinting fees: OSPI $50.00 plus San Juan County Sheriff's Office fee $15.00.
Complete mandatory online professional development courses via SafeSchools within 30 days of hire, and annually.
