Job Description

Description:

CLX Engineering is seeking a highly detail-oriented Electrical CAD Drafter with strong experience in industrial automation (not MEP). Our CAD Drafters read, edit, and correct electrical schematics for automated machinery, conveyors, control panels, and PLC systems. This position involves translating redlined drawings and engineering markups into accurate, build-ready CAD documentation. Candidates must be confident in their ability to spot and correct errors, work from existing designs, and follow established standards. This is a drafting role only — you will not be designing systems.

What You’ll Do

Interpret and revise electrical drawings based on redlines and engineer-provided markups

Draft power distribution, emergency stop, and logic control schematics

Create panel layout drawings and motor control station diagrams

Develop network wiring diagrams per engineering guidance

Generate accurate bills of materials based on completed drawings

Maintain CAD standards, drawing templates, and libraries

Track and organize drawing sets through project phases to ensure consistency and accuracy

Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to meet project drafting requirements

What You Bring

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat Editor

Proven ability to read, understand, and accurately reproduce complex electrical schematics and control panel layouts

Familiarity with industrial automation hardware (e.g., PLCs, VFD, relays, sensors)

Experience with industrial automation, material handling, and electrical panel layout

Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) and workflow platforms such as ClickUp

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to recognize and correct inconsistencies or errors

Clear communication skills and a professional, collaborative work approach

At least 5 years of relevant drafting experience in an industrial automation environment

CAD certification or equivalent hands-on training is strongly preferred

CLX’s Electrical CAD Drafter is a non-exempt salaried position reporting to the Technical Site Manager. In this role, you'll work closely with a dedicated team of Field Technicians and Engineers. The position is based at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, with on-site reporting required. All candidates must be able to pass a TSA level background check (this is more rigorous than getting through passenger security quickly).

To start, the schedule will be early morning through mid-afternoon to help you integrate with the team and understand the role's responsibilities. Once you're fully familiar with the job expectations and have a reliable process for accessing the information you need, your hours may shift to a more standard business schedule, if necessary.

If you're a skilled drafter with a solid track record in electrical documentation for automation systems, and you take pride in getting the details right the first time, we’d love to hear from you!

Why Join Us? Be part of a focused, collaborative team pushing the boundaries of airport technology. You'll work on cutting-edge projects for an engaged, forward-thinking client—where your contributions drive real innovation. We offer a strong benefits package and a work culture that values both excellence and balance.Requirements:
