Job Purpose
To lead the mechanical maintenance function of an automotive sheet metal manufacturing facility, ensuring maximum machine uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency across fabrication, welding, paint shop, utilities, and assembly lines.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Execution
Develop & implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules for all production and utility equipment.
Ensure smooth functioning of:
Fabrication Machines – Press machines (mechanical/hydraulic), CNC shearing, bending, rolling machines, plasma/laser cutting.
Welding Lines – MIG/TIG welding, robotic welding cells, spot welding machines, jigs & fixtures.
Paint Shop – Pre-treatment plants, paint booths, ovens, conveyors, E-coat lines.
Assembly Lines – Material handling systems, conveyors, power tools, torque wrenches, fastening equipment.
Utility Systems – Compressors, chillers, cooling towers, DG sets, boilers, HVAC systems.
Electrical & Automation – Motors, drives, PLC panels, control systems, robotic arms.
Minimize downtime and ensure availability of critical spares.
Team Leadership
Lead, guide, and supervise a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians across multiple shifts.
Conduct skill upgradation programs for maintenance staff on new technologies (robotics, PLC, automation).
Continuous Improvement & Cost Control
Apply TPM, Kaizen, 5S, and root cause analysis (RCA) for reducing repetitive breakdowns.
Drive automation upgrades & energy-saving initiatives.
Optimize maintenance costs while improving machine reliability.
️ Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for pressure vessels, boilers, electrical systems, and environment.
Maintain documentation for ISO, IATF, and customer audits.
Enforce strict adherence to plant safety practices.

Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, automation, and control systems.

Qualifications & Experience
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Electrical exposure preferred).
15–20 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in auto/auto-component or sheet metal industry, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
Hands-on exposure to robotic welding, paint shops, CNC fabrication equipment, and utilities.
