Admissions Center Bed Manager / Insurance Coordinator - Optalis Health & Rehabilitation

Remote

Full-Time

This full-time position is a hybrid between Bed Manager and Insurance Coordinator. The role does pick up one weekend a month for 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on a Sunday.

The Bed Manager is critical to managing admissions into the Optalis Health & Rehabilitation Care Centers and maintaining patient census. The role requires the coordination and supervision of appropriate placements for residents based on bed availability, level of care and insurance requirements. Insurance Coordinators are responsible for retrieving, verifying and inputting hospital referral data which ultimately leads to admissions to one of our Optalis facilities.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Schedule potential admissions into an available and appropriate bed based on facility choice, insurance requirements and patient needs.

Adapt to changing guidelines for MacIntosh Healthcare, CMS and individual facilities.

Update and maintain facility bed management spreadsheets from census, emails and phone conversations with the buildings

Send, emails and notify each facility of all upcoming admissions

Follow up on patients ready to be placed in a bed

Accept or Deny required 3877 and 3878 in OBRA for scheduled patients.

Create folders to attach all necessary and required information (HD info, Insurance authorizations, 3877/3878, etc.)

Communicate with hospitals to obtain all required information for admission as well as communicate with the facility admissions teams or administrators for a successful placement

Serves as an insurance coordinator if necessary for the department

Verify insurance information and enter into PCC this includes which facilities can accept, bed requirements and authorization details

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Proficient with PCC, CarePort, Outlook, Excel and so on.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least two years related Skilled Nursing Facility experience preferred.

Medical terminology, clinical assessment, scheduling and understanding of insurance highly preferred
