CREDIT & COLLECTIONS ANALYST

Job Summary:

The Credit & Collections Analyst is responsible for managing customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices, resolving payment issues, and maintaining accurate receivables records. This role works closely with customers, internal teams, and cash application to ensure account integrity, reduce delinquency, and support healthy cash flow.

Key Responsibilities:

Proactively contact customers to collect past due invoices and ensure timely payment according to agreed terms.

Identify and resolve payment barriers, including missing documents, pricing discrepancies, or delivery issues, by collaborating with customers and internal contacts (plant, sales, or billing teams).

Issue dunning and collection letters to customers with overdue balances, following company credit and collection policies.

Respond to customer requests by sending invoice copies and any other supporting documentation as needed.

Monitor customer accounts to minimize deductions, credit memos, and unapplied cash, ensuring accounts remain clean and up to date.

Identify unapplied cash and work with internal teams to correctly apply it to open invoices for proper closure.

Access customer payment portals or communicate via email to determine payment status, track pending payments, and flag invoices that are not scheduled for payment.

Maintain detailed logs of all customer communications (calls, emails, and portal updates) for internal tracking and audit readiness.

Provide regular updates to management on at-risk accounts, disputed items, and expected cash collections.

Collaborate with the Cash Application team to ensure accurate application of payments and work together on resolving remittance mismatches or missing details.

Perform and support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, reporting, and resolution of outstanding AR items.

Take on additional tasks or responsibilities as needed to support the AR, credit, or collections functions.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.

2+ years’ experience in credit, collections, or accounts receivable, ideally in B2B or high-volume settings.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data manipulation.

Skilled in managing customer payment portals, communication logs, and dispute resolution.

Strong knowledge of credit and collections processes, including cash application and payment follow-ups.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.

Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to collaborate across teams.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
