Description:

Tau is a venture-backed advanced technology company based in the Bay Area (Redwood City, CA). We design and develop next-generation products for electrification, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. The company was started because we believe the key to a more sustainable future requires modern power conversion systems to increase the security of the world's energy. We have pioneered technologies that leverage software-enabled hardware to provide industry-leading scale, economics, and efficiencies. Our systems include innovations across electric machines, inverters, controllers, thermal management, simulation, and charging systems.

Tau's team of engineers, scientists, technologists, operators, and industry leaders continues to advance our internal technology roadmap while collaborating with commercial partners to deploy our existing products to market. They are relentlessly pursuing the creation of efficient power conversion systems for a more sustainable future. At our core, Tau is made of exceptionally talented and mission-aligned people. Developing complex electromechanical systems is an interdisciplinary challenge. We want to expand our team with diverse engineering, scientific, and operational expertise.

About you

We are looking for people who aren't afraid to take on new challenges and are as passionate about energy and electrification as we are:

You find significant challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them.

You deliver. You may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting design, but ultimately, you know that delivering innovative, effective, and reliable solutions matters.

You are a cross-disciplinary team member. You are excited to work with, learn from, and contribute to technology teams ranging from electromagnetics, power electronics, controls systems, mechanical, materials, software, computational physics, and beyond. About the Role

Tau Motors is expanding its commercial programs and seeking a customer-facing Technical Program Manager to lead technical and business relationships, drive product and technology development, facilitate customer success, and deliver world-class commercial solutions. Program, Risk & Escalation Management: Manage risks, dependencies, and escalation protocols across project phases. Proactively resolve blockers and leverage structured issue logs for transparency.

Strategic Oversight & Continuous Improvement: Align technical programs with both immediate deliverables and long-term strategy. Implement frameworks for repeatable success and standardized client experience.

Engineering Execution: Oversee engineering operations-resource allocation, workflow optimization, and Agile delivery-for commercial programs centered on power electronics and complex hardware.

Customer Success, Onboarding & Enablement: Own the customer lifecycle. Lead onboarding, training, adoption initiatives, and post-launch feedback cycles to ensure robust support and rapid value realization.

Industry Awareness: Track trends, technical innovations, and competitive landscape to guide program relevance and strategic positioning.

Professional Development: Mentor multidisciplinary teams, support career growth, and foster an innovative and collaborative culture.

Business Impact: Measure and communicate program impact against business outcomes and organizational objectives. What You'll Bring

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

5+ years of technical leadership in customer-facing program management, including technical demos, presentations, and stakeholder negotiation.

Deep knowledge of Power Electronics, Controls Engineering, and hardware technologies; hands-on experience in automotive, energy, or related sectors.

Exceptional communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation-tailored for technical and executive audiences.

Proficiency in project management, risk frameworks, and escalation practices.

Experience aligning programs to business goals, driving process improvements, and advancing scalable frameworks.

Proven ability to lead customer onboarding, enablement, and lifecycle management to maximize satisfaction.
