We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist Lead (Tech Advisor) to join our innovation center team in Bengaluru. This senior role will drive end-to-end data science projects, mentor teams, and shape strategy for next-generation AI/ML applications across the global energy industry.
Data Scientist Lead (Tech Advisor):
In this role, you should be highly analytical with demonstrated expertise in advanced data science and machine learning. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential for guiding teams and interpreting complex data. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading large-scale projects, experimenting with cutting-edge AI methods, and shaping the group’s strategy for high-impact data science initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Desired/Preferred Expertise
• Mathematics & Analytics
o Deep knowledge of statistics, linear algebra, multivariate calculus, probability, and optimization
o Strong background in experimental design and hypothesis testing.
• Programming & Tools
o Advanced Python programming
o Expertise with key Python libraries:
•Data Handling/Visualization: Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Seaborn
•Machine Learning: Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, LightGBM
•Deep Learning: PyTorch, TensorFlow, transformers
•Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask) is a plus.
•AI/ML Techniques
o Proven track record of delivering end-to-end data science projects at scale
o Expertise in at least one cutting-edge AI area (e.g., GANs, PINNs, Reinforcement Learning, Graph Neural Networks, Foundation Models, etc.)
o Ability to evaluate and critique models, lead experiments with new techniques, and guide team adoption of emerging trends
• Data Engineering & Deployment
o Lead large-scale data integration efforts: extracting, cleaning, building data dictionaries
o Strong SQL/NoSQL skills and experience with data lakes/warehouses
o Model deployment expertise: architecture design, scaling, and operationalization of ML/AI solutions in production environments
o Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and MLOps practices
•Cloud Platforms
o Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
o Strong knowledge of AI/ML services (e.g., AWS Sagemaker, Azure ML, Google Vertex AI)
• Version Control & Collaboration
o Git (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket)
o Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing collaborative workflows
Leadership & Responsibilities
• Lead multiple large-scale, end-to-end analytics projects across business lines; ensure delivery of high-value outcomes.
• Drive experimentation with emerging AI/ML methods; critique and review models for quality, robustness, and scalability.
• Discover large-scale data science opportunities with multimillion-dollar impact; shape group strategy, roadmap, and adoption of AI/ML innovations.
• Oversee and mentor teams working on data preparation, pipelines, and integration efforts across diverse data sources.
• Guide architecture and deployment design; audit and direct implementation of production-grade solutions at scale.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Earth Sciences, or related quantitative field) and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in STEM preferred
