Position title: TRANSPORT AND TRUCK MECHANIC

Work Location: 1350 Wall Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 2S3

Terms of Employment: Full Time Year-round 2 years

Work schedule: 40 hours a week. Monday to Friday- 8 AM-5 PM- 1hr for lunch

The company:

Sprinter Towing Ltd. is a vehicle towing company which offers roadside assistance and vehicle repairs on site and in our shop. We have a fleet of 33 tow trucks including Light, Medium, Service vehicles. We have been in business in Winnipeg Manitoba for more than 5 years.

We are looking for 3 experienced Truck Mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidates for these positions must understand the tools and techniques used in the field to perform general repairs and maintenance.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, self starter, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. The successful candidates must be able to diagnose and repair trucks and vehicles quickly and accurately

Essential Duties

Inspect, service and repair:

Wheel Lift Tow Trucks/Flatbed Tow Trucks Medium Duty Aprox. 20,000LBS

Brakes (ABS System, Hydraulic Brakes System, Air Brakes system)

Suspension: Shocks, Spring Leaf, Spring Coils, Ball Joints, King pins, Steering gearbox, rack and pinion, etc)

Hydraulic: Hydraulic System diagnose and repair, rebuild Hydraulic cylinders, Hydraulic hoses remove and replace. PTO diagnose/repair/rebuild. Hydraulic pumps, check valves, etc)

Drivetrain (Engine, transmission, Axle Shafts, U-Joints, Bearings)

Vehicle engine (Diesel injection parameters, computerized diagnostic, oil change, etc)

Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems

A/C

Must be able to

drive and repair the fleet where it breakdown, fit it if it is possible or tow the vehicle back to our shop and repair

Recondition and replace parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools and precision measuring tools

Repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engine vehicles according to dealership and factory specifications.

Perform on-site emergency maintenance with company provided vehicle

to lift up to 50 pounds

Battery boost, lock out, flat tire change

Perform battery test or replacement on road

Perform roadside test

Provide routine maintenance, adjustment, and repair on all gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles including hydraulic pumps, safety valves, cooling, and lubrication systems, cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, and any other mechanical components

Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed

Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit

Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions

Review work orders

Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements

Complete reports to record problems and work performed

Diagnosing malfunctions or problems using a computerized system or testing equipment to determine the root cause of any issues

Repairing and verifying any emission control systems

Must be able to perform tire changes Requirements

Follow company health & safety policies

to trouble shoot.

Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and government regulations

Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.

Keeps shop area neat and clean.

Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Performing other duties as required

Employment requirements:

Completion of secondary School

Training courses as Mechanic Repair on Diesel Motors,

General knowledge of engine scanning system

Driver license class 5

Three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

English

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
