Lead Concrete Worker/Finisher

Announcement of Vacancy Concrete Worker/Finisher Possum Kingdom, Graford, Texas SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to perform concrete work and assist the welders and abrasive blasters as part of a team in completing work duties and perform construction, repairs, and general maintenance on the Brazos River Authority (BRA) dams.

This is accomplished by pouring and finishing concrete; operating concrete saws and jackhammers to remove deteriorated concrete; building and setting concrete forms; bending, cutting, and installing reinforcing bars.

Other responsibilities include operating heavy equipment; assisting the welders and abrasive blasters; assisting with scaffold erection and any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or field processes.

Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words.

Ability to deal with a system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.

Perform the four basic arithmetic operations.

Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.

The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with some direction when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices.

Assignment is reviewed upon completion.

Work involves choices of action within limits set by standard practices and procedures.

Judgment is required to apply the proper course of action.

Work typically requires the recognition of related steps.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Work requires a level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency or an equivalent combination of experience.

At least three years of concrete experience.

Must have flatwork experience.

Carpentry experience is preferred.

This is a non-exempt position.

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY: The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin.

Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
