Steel Cutting & Forming Mechanic

OverviewDo you have experience in Carpentry, Metal Fabrication, Shipfitting or Cranes/Forklifts then this is an exciting career for you Steel Processing takes raw material (plate and shapes) through a variety of cutting and forming techniques to create the parts to fabricate the Hull and Structure of our nuclear submarines.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:\nOperate CNC-15 different CNC machines on the floor for plasma, laser and oxy cutting for both plate and shapes, grinder\nBurners-working with oxy propane and plasma torches to create & bend the steel plates\nFormers-forming rolls & c-frame press utilizing press brakes ranging from 65 ton to 5K ton\n\nTransportation-trained and certified in forklift and 50 ton overhead cranes in order to maneuver steel throughout the department.Some of the Benefits we provide to you include:\nMedical, Dental, Vision\n401K Plan\nPaid Vacation and holidays\nShift Premium\nHealth and Wellness Programs\nCommuter/Van Services/Ripta\nTuition Reimbursement Program\nAdvancement Opportunities\nSafety Boot Reimbursement Program\n\nThis position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.QualificationsRequired:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience\nAvailable to work all shifts\nAbility to read Basic blueprints and interpretation for layout, forming & shipyard procedures\nAbility to perform and use basic math and measuring tools to perform initial layout and verification of final dimensions\nIndividuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools\n\nPreferred:\nConstruction background and/or relevant experience or training\nExperience in steel forming and steel cutting\nHand/Power tool usage(grinders, sanders, hand torches, general tools)\nShipfitting, Carpentry or Metal Fabrication\nLifting and Handling (Overhead Cranes, Forklifts etc.)\nCNC experience with cutting/forming equipment.
