Performs NDT inspections (Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, X-Ray, Ultrasonic or visual inspections) as required and as personal certifications apply.

Must have achieved national recognition as Level II or III by national accreditation.\n KEY RESULTS AREAS:\n\nPerform NDT tests and compare to the related specs for acceptability.\nDocumentation is constantly and effectively monitored for accuracy and completeness.\nRespond rapidly to the needs of operators, teams and management in order to meet production and customer needs.\nIdentify and implement ways to improve and eliminate waste, especially in the improvement of Quality efficiency.\nWatch for manufacturing processes that may seem irregular in an effort to identify problems or errors before they occur.\nProcesses are monitored for control and feedback given to engineering for processes that have too many inconsistencies or variabilities.\nWork standards are met or improved.\nSeeks additional work to ensure high levels of productivity.\n\n PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nReads and analyzes blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information.

\nMeasure dimensions such as length, height, distance and angles using standard and precision measuring instruments.\nInspect first run/first article parts, including fabrication fit-ups, weldments and assemblies.\nMonitor inspection instrument calibrations.\nShare responsibility with department manager that all signoffs of previous operations are performed.

This includes checking that the quantity on travelers matches actual part quantity.

Check parts to ensure no handling damage has occurred during in-process movement.

Check to be sure that “as built” drawings and inspection reports have variable data recorded, if applicable.\nWrite reports and create charts regarding inspection and testing results.\nCommunicates with co-workers, supervisors and customers to receive instructions and co-ordinate activities.\nPerform calibrations on NDT equipment and facilities as required.\nExamine defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommend changes or modifications in the process.\nMonitor welder certification and weld procedure qualification tests for adherence to the WPS.\nPerform the functions of lead auditor to perform internal audits in a timely manner to the requirement of the GTC Quality Manual, ISO, and other customer requirements.\n\n REQUIRED EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:\n\nHigh school diploma is required.\nClassroom training and the required hours of experience to attain at least two NDT disciplines.\nTraining in SPC data collection techniques and evaluation.\nTraining in use and safety of chemical handling and radiography.\nClassroom training in the area of personal certification/qualification level.\n\n REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:\n\nMinimum 5 years’ experience as a certified NDT Technician in at least one discipline.\nMinimum of 5 years’ experience working with or around a metal joining/welding facility.\nProven problem-solving skills with proven ability to establish an effective course of action.\nMinimum of 2 nationally recognized levels of competencies (i.e.

ASNT, AWS)\nEye Examination minimum requirement – Jaeger 1 at 12” with corrective lenses and the Ishihara Color Blindness Test.

Exams are required on an annual basis.\n
