Salary: $21.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists with preparing guest meals within safety, quality, quantity and budgetary guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in ensuring kitchen equipment is maintained and used according to departmental health and safety standards.

Assists in ensuring kitchens are operating within San Bernardino County Health Department codes and guidelines.

Assists the Banquet Chef and in requisitioning food items from the Commissary as needed.

Actively supports and participates in spiritual life activities.

Works in assigned areas as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

One year of related work experience.

Valid San Bernardino County food handlers card; ServSafe preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate small and large kitchen utilities and appliances. Requires medium to heavy physical work; some lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times.
