Job Description
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Registered Nurse (RN) license
Two (2) years of nursing experience with one year in a clinical specialty
Preferred Qualifications :
Three (3) years of nursing experience with one year in a clinical specialty
Duties and Responsibilities :
Interpret, support, and practice the mission and philosophy of the hospital and the Operating Room.
Serve as a clinical resource, consultant, and role model for perioperative nursing staff.
Provide support and expertise to the Department of Surgery in care and education of staff, physicians, and patients.
Utilize research findings and experience to improve nursing practice and patient care.
Maintain flexibility and adapt to workload variations.
Use expert clinical skills for ongoing assessment and evaluation of nursing care.
Develop, monitor, and evaluate quality improvement projects, planning one per year related to the service area.
Participate in hospital committees at various levels.
Validate and benchmark nursing practice within the specialty area.
Address service-related needs for new products and equipment, following established processes.
Manage service-related resource materials.
Ensure competency in safety standards and mandatory requirements.
Promote clinical expertise through networking, professional development, and literature review.
Network with management, other hospitals, physicians, and peers for role development.
Serve as a clinical role model.
Collaborate to facilitate patient care plans, providing direct or indirect care, including scrubbing and circulating.
Participate in supply and equipment value analysis and evaluate impacts on the environment of care.
Consult with management on patient care, staff development, and practice issues.
Develop protocols, policies, and practice guidelines collaboratively.
Coordinate with the healthcare team on patient care plans.
Develop and evaluate competencies in partnership with quality outcomes staff.
Assess staff learning needs and provide educational opportunities.
Train staff on new products and monitor compliance and ongoing competency.
Participate in mandatory education and deliver service-related presentations annually.
Evaluate current practices using benchmarking data.
Foster an environment of empowerment, mentoring, and team building.
Address cost-effectiveness in patient care delivery, including financial management skills.
Provide evidence-based information and help develop policies based on standards and regulations.
Participate in research activities.
Incorporate cultural and age-appropriate care in all interactions, understanding growth and development, interpreting age-specific data, and providing suitable communication.
