Located in suburban Kansas City, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a highly skilled and patient-focused psychiatrist to care for patients in a busy 42-bed inpatient Behavioral Health program. Our psychiatrists provide mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis treatment for voluntary adult and senior inpatients. We also offer a robust ECT program for inpatients and outpatients, a reputable Intensive Outpatient Program with tracks for mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis, and a Behavioral Health Assessment Center.

About Our Psychiatry Position:

Patients aged 18 and up; voluntary; no separate geriatric unit

Average patients per provider: 15-18 (includes inpatient, medical floor consults, and IOP)

42-bed unit

Average Length of Stay (ALOS): 5 days

Multidisciplinary Treatment Team meetings twice a week

Focus on mental illness and dual diagnosis tracks

Support staff includes therapists, nurses, techs, and administrative personnel

Perform H&P physicals

Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic

Rounding:

Adult inpatient psychiatric coverage in person: weekdays 8 am to 5 pm

1-2 weekends of rounding per month, 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday

Off days for provider before or after a rounding weekend for rejuvenation

Areas to round:

Inpatient Psychiatric Unit

IOP (based on volume, located in a different building)

Consult liaison for medical floor evaluations (based on volume)

ED for involuntary patients on hold

On-Call:

On-call shifts 3-4 times per month (4 pm to 8 am weekdays; 8 am to 8 am weekends)

Typically phone calls from ED and units to assist with dispositions and admit orders
