Position Title: Full-time Chef

Salary: $78,000 + Superannuation

Warralily Cockatoo is a neighbourhood cafe and pizza bar so we serve fresh food, from a simple menu, at great prices with good vibes. Warralily Cockatoo is looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Chef who is passionate about modern Australian cuisines and also hands on experience in making Pizza.

Tasks include:

• Demonstrating cooking techniques and work responsibilities of the kitchen staff including advising cooking procedures

• Supervising the activities of cooks, apprentices, and assistants

• Preparing and cooking menu items including dishes according to dietary requirements and special days

• Menu Execution – Prepare and cook menu items consistently to the highest standard.

• Recipe Adherence – Follow established recipes and portion controls while maintaining presentation quality.

• Creativity – Contribute ideas for seasonal specials, menu development, and new dishes.

• Food Preparation – Oversee mise en place and ensure all stations are fully prepped before service.

• Quality Control – Monitor taste, freshness, and presentation of dishes leaving the kitchen.

• Food Safety – Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and allergen awareness

• Stock Management – Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise wastage

• Kitchen Cleanliness – Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment

Skill level required:

• Minimum Certificate IV in commercial cookery

• Proven kitchen experience in a fast-paced restaurant, café, or bar environment

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Chef in a full-service restaurant

• Strong cooking skills with knowledge of pizza, grill, and/or modern bistro-style menus

• Food safety knowledge – understanding of HACCP, safe food handling, and kitchen hygiene standards. We will support the candidate in gaining the knowledge specific to Australia, Victoria

• Teamwork & communication – ability to work closely with chefs, kitchen hands, and FOH staff

• Time management – capable of staying organized and calm under pressure during busy service

• Passion for hospitality – enthusiasm for great food, creativity, and delivering a quality dining experience.
