Our organisation

Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) provides a Joint headquarters to plan, prepare and conduct operations to support NATO’s core tasks, at the Joint Operational level, as directed by SACEUR.

The Operations Directorate is responsible for directing, monitoring, coordinating and assessing operational functions and advising the Chief of Staff (COS) regarding all regionally focused operational activities.

The Joint Assessment Division is responsible for the gathering of evidence to provide formal feedback on the progress and results of an operation, inform decision-making and make adjustments to the plan.

The Campaign Assessment Branch focuses on assessing the long-term planning horizon in order to support operations planning.

The incumbent is responsible for administrative support to the wargaming section and ensuring efficient administrative support to the execution of wargame events.

The main duties of Staff Assistant (Wargaming) are to:

· Be responsible for the efficient operation and management of the administrative needs of the wargaming section by managing and supervising administrative, information technology, security and real-life support for all wargaming events related to the design development and execution of a wargame.

· Be responsible for registration and tracking of all wargame event participants.

· Coordinate facility support as required for wargame execution, including coordination of IT support such as VTC, networking and workstation delivery.

· Develop and distribute event calling messages, official invitations and administrative instructions.

· Manage and update wargaming community of interest contact rosters and stakeholder point of contact lists.

· Coordinate external participants with real life support and logistics and work together with Protocol Office and Base Support Group (BSG) for larger wargame events.

· Coordinate with reprographics for all printed materials required to support the game design and execution.

· Assist in the preparation of agendas, programmes, minutes, taskers, supporting documentation for meetings and the wargaming community of interest.

· Administer and update wargaming Community of Interest Portal page with relevant events and documentation.

· Responsible for procurement of necessary supplies for wargame design and execution.

The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.

Required Qualifications are:

Ø English – good – NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3322.

(Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.

NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.

Ø Secondary education and basic training for specific task related skills.

Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience in a clerical or administrative role(s).

Ø Recent experience in information management including records and document management.

Ø Recent professional experience supporting the delivery of conferences or workshops, including co-ordination of IT/audio visual support.

Desirable Qualifications are:

Ø Experience as a Wargaming practitioner.

Ø Experience working in a national or international headquarters.

Ø Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva or similar graphic design tool(s).

Ø Completion of for this position relevant courses/training.

The successfully selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and is required to pass a medical

examination before an employment contract offer will be released. The medical examination will take place with our medical

consultant, is required to determine if the recommended candidate is fit to perform the duties and be deployable to NATO's

Areas of Operation.

This requirement is in support of the NATO 2030 agenda.

The successful candidate will be offered a 3-year definite duration contract as NATO International Civilian (NIC); remuneration

will be exempt from taxation and allowances will be applied whenever applicable.

For serving NATO international Civilians: contract will be offered in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations

and the additional Nations’ guidance (MCM-0061-2023 for NATO 2030 Project Linked NICs).

The selected staff member will get a definite duration contract regardless of the current contract, with the exception of the case

when they have more than 10 years of service, in which case they will receive an indefinite duration contract.
