Job Description

Job Title: Solar Construction Foreman

Job Summary:

The Solar Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing the on-site installation and construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects. Mostly commercial projects. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership

Lead and manage a crew of solar installers, electricians, and laborers.

Coordinate daily construction activities and delegate tasks to team members.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations.

Project Management

Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

Monitor project timelines, productivity, and materials usage.

Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.

Quality Assurance

Inspect work to ensure it meets code, quality standards, and design requirements.

Conduct system testing and troubleshooting.

Ensure proper documentation of all site activities and completed tasks.

Logistics & Inventory

Manage site materials, tools, and equipment.

Track inventory and coordinate deliveries.

Maintain a clean and organized job site.

Customer Interaction (if applicable)

Represent the company professionally to clients, inspectors, and the public.

Address client concerns or questions regarding the project.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in solar installation or electrical systems preferred.

3–5 years of experience in solar construction, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

OSHA 30 certification (preferred or required depending on project).

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Key Skills:

Strong understanding of solar PV systems, components, and installation methods.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Competent with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

Familiarity with national and local electrical codes (NEC).

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs.

Working Conditions:

Full-time, often outdoors and at heights.

Travel to various job sites may be required.

Extended hours or weekend work may be necessary depending on project timelines.
