Job Description
Providence Staffing's client, a growing personal injury law firm in Columbus, GA, is seeking a Pre-Litigation Paralegal/Case Manager to own cases from sign-up through settlement—prior to the commencement of litigation. You'll be the primary liaison among clients, attorneys, medical providers, and insurance carriers, driving efficient case progression, superb client service, and strong outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Case & Client Management
Manage a heavy pre-litigation caseload from intake through settlement with minimal supervision.
Maintain proactive, scheduled touchpoints with clients; guide them through treatment, claims milestones, and next steps.
Track SOLs and all internal/external deadlines; maintain organized, audit-ready electronic files.
Records, Evidence & Documentation
Obtain, review, and summarize police reports, medical records/billing, wage loss proof, photos, and other evidence.
Prepare medical chronologies and specials summaries; identify treatment gaps and recommend corrective steps.
Draft and finalize correspondence, notices of representation, HIPAA releases, spoliation letters, and settlement documents for attorney review.
Medical Treatment Coordination
Schedule and monitor client appointments; ensure continuity of care and complete records.
Communicate with providers regarding records, balances, and anticipated treatment plans.
Insurance & Negotiations
Open and manage claims (liability, UM/UIM, med-pay); communicate with adjusters throughout the claim lifecycle.
Prepare comprehensive demand packages (facts, liability analysis, damages, specials, and supporting exhibits).
Under attorney supervision, negotiate pre-litigation settlements and document results.
Lien & Billing Management
Verify balances and liens; request itemizations and reductions; negotiate with providers to maximize client recovery.
Attorney Support & Handoff
Provide concise case strategy summaries and recommendations to attorneys.
If litigation becomes necessary, prepare a clean, complete handoff file.
Trial-Support Tasks (as needed)
Bates numbering of production sets.
Exhibit setup and organization for presentations.
Expert coordination (scheduling, materials, and invoicing).
General trial-readiness assistance at attorney direction.
Qualifications
2+ years' experience as a PI pre-litigation paralegal/case manager (Georgia PI preferred).
Working knowledge of Georgia negligence, damages, insurance coverages, and SOLs.
Proven success preparing demand packages and supporting pre-suit negotiations.
Strong written communication and client-facing skills; calm and professional phone manner.
High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in a volume practice.
Tools & Tech (nice to have)
Case management software (e.g., Needles/Neos, Filevine, SmartAdvocate, or similar).
Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF tools (Acrobat).
Medical chronology/spreadsheet proficiency.
